Please welcome Sue Hammerland of Cousins Island, Maine to the Smudge studio. Sue is a painter and person who "likes to make things." She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Sue attended Virgnia for undergrad and graduate school in Art History and Studio Art. She has taught classes through the Yarmouth Community Services, and as a volunteer at her children's schools. Summer Camp Schedule 2008
Summer 2008 at Smudge
This summer we will be offering 6 one week art camp sessions beginning July 7 and ending August 15. During this time we will be open to non-campers Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm – 2 pm and Saturdays from 9:30am – 12:00 pm. The cost for non-camp hours is $15/ hour for the first child and $10/hour for each additional sibling. August 18 – August 29 we will be open Monday- Saturday 10 am – 12:30 pm. The cost per child is $15/ hour for the first child and $10/ hour for each additional sibling. Summer birthday parties can be scheduled on Saturdays from 2-3:30 and 4-5:30 and weekdays in the afternoon. Please stop by or mail registration form and payment to secure your spot. Camp for 2 year olds- Pre K meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am-12 pm and the cost is $50 per child/session - limit 6. Please send your camper (Tuesday/Thursday) with a peanut free snack. Camp for 5-9 year olds meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am-1 pm and the cost is $100 per child/session - limit 8. Please send your camper (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) with a peanut free lunch. All classes on Tuesday/Thursday will occur. We require a minimum of 1 child in order to hold Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes. If the session has been canceled it will be replaced with open studio for all ages from 10:00-12:30. (Visit the website each week to determine if the session has been changed to open studio format.) Session 1 “Intro to Art”
Join us as we explore a wide array of media and techniques, including collage, painting, drawing, clay, and paper mache.
2 year olds – Pre K -Tuesday July 8 and Thursday July 10.
5-9 year olds -Monday July 7, Wednesday July 9, and Friday July 11. - This weeks session has been canceled.
Session 2 “Animals”
Each day we will create art from a different place in the animal kingdom including tropical birds, insects, ocean, farm, and rainforest animals.
2 year olds - Pre K-Tuesday July 15 and Thursday July 17. (This session is full)
5-9 year olds –Monday July 14, Wednesday July 16, and Friday July 18.
Session 3 “Theatre.”
Come explore your dramatic side as we create an array of puppets, costumes, and a puppet stage.
2 year olds – Pre K –Tuesday July 22 and Thursday July 24.
5-9 year olds –Monday July 21, Wednesday July 23, and Friday July 25. - currently we do not have any campers registered.
Session 4 “Nature”
We will use elements of nature including leaves, shells, twigs, rocks, etc to create unique art.
2 year olds – Pre K – Tuesday July 29 and Thursday July 31. (This session is full)
5-9 year olds – Monday July 28, Wednesday July 30, and Friday August 1.
Session 5 “Construction”: There is no camp for kids 5-9 years old this week
Join as we construct art from materials including wood, boxes, packing noodles, paper and more.
2 year olds – Pre K – 2 offer 2 options:
Monday Augsut 4th and Wednesday August 6th
Tuesday August 5 and Thursday August 7 - this session is filled
Session 6 “Art from around the world”
Join us as we explore different techniques and art from around the world including Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
2 year olds – Pre K – Tuesday August 12 and Thursday August 14.
5-9 year olds – Monday August 11, Wednesday August 13, and Friday August 15.
